Taste of Sailing

A fun introduction of the thrills and spills of sailing.

Duration:
Half Day
Previous Experience:
No previous experience or knowledge is required or assumed.
Types of Boats:
Dinghies and Keel Boats.
Syllabus:
Basic Controls, Clothing, Stopping & Tacking.
Certificate:
ISA Taste of Sailing Certificate.
Price:
€100 per person

Start Sailing

A foundation course for those new to sailing, building a solid skills base quickly, enabling you to enjoy sailing and gain confidence.

Duration:
2 days
Previous Experience:
No previous experience or knowledge is required or assumed.
Types of Boats:
Dinghies and Keel Boats.
Syllabus:
Basic Controls, Stopping, Tacking, Gybing, Weather, Rules, Sailing Upwind & Downwind, Tides, Rigging and Ropework.
Certificate:
ISA Start Sailing Certificate (on successful completion).
Price:
€350 per person

Basic Skills

A development course designed to sharpen basic skills and improve competency and enjoyment on the water before heading onto the more advanced.

Duration:
5 mid-week days or 2 weekends.
Previous Experience:
“Start Sailing” course or equivalent experience.
Types of Boats:
Dinghies and Keel Boats.
Syllabus:
Points of sailing, Reefing, 5 essentials, Coming alongside, Man over board, How a sail works, Weather, & Sailing in company.
Certificate:
ISA Basic Skills Sailing Certificate (on successful completion).
Price:
€550 per person

Improving Skills

A development course designed to sharpen basic skills and improve competency and enjoyment on the water before heading onto the more advanced.

Duration:
5 mid-week days or 2 weekends.
Previous Experience:
“Basic Skills” course or equivalent experience.
Types of Boats:
Dinghies and Keel Boats.
Syllabus:
Tuning, Roll Tacking, Rudderless sailing, Sailing backwards, Weather forecasting.
Certificate:
ISA Improving Skills Certificate (on successful completion).
Price:
€550 per person

Advanced Boat Handling

A development course designed to sharpen boat handling, tuning skills and prepare you to sail flat out in strong winds.

Duration:
5 mid-week days or 2 weekends.
Previous Experience:
“Improving Skills” course or equivalent experience.
Types of Boats:
Dinghies and Keel Boats.
Syllabus:
Tuning, Wave sailing, Optimising effectiveness of hull, spars and sails within class rules.
Certificate:
ISA Advanced Boat Handling Certificate (on successful completion).
Price:
€550 per person

Adventure 1

A course designed to give you the skills needed for longer day trips..

Duration:
5 mid-week days or 2 weekends.
Previous Experience:
“Improving Skills” course or equivalent experience.
Types of Boats:
Dinghies and Keel Boats.
Syllabus:
Anchoring, Towing, Passage Planning for a day trip, Safety, Basic Navigation.
Certificate:
ISA Adventure 1 Certificate (on successful completion).

Adventure 2

A course designed to sharpen your skills and knowledge to become an independent sailor capable of undertaking extended trips and of making correct and appropriate decisions in adverse circumstance.

Duration:
5 mid-week days or 2 weekends.
Previous Experience:
“Advanced Boat Handling” course or equivalent experience.
Types of Boats:
Dinghies and Keel Boats.
Syllabus:
Advanced navigation, Reefing underway, Towing under sail, Advanced Tides, Basic First Aid, Basic boat repairs.
Certificate:
ISA Adventure 2 Certificate (on successful completion).
Price:
€550 per person

Keelboat Instructor Pre-entry Assessment

Duration:
2 days.
Previous Experience:
Your personal skill level should be that of the standard Sailing Instructor pre-entry ( full details are available on the links page) or the ISA Advanced Boat Handling course.
Types of Boats:
Backman 21.
Syllabus:
Part 1 skills assessment; Part 2 – background knowledge assessment.
Certificate:
ISA Instructor pre-entry Certificate (on successful completion).
Price:
€350 per person

Keelboat Instructor Course

Duration:
2 days.
Prerequisites:
Minimum age 17 years, recommendation from Club Officer or Centre Principal, Keelboat Instructor pre-entry assessment within the last 12 months, valid first aid certificate, SRC VHF certificate, National Powerboat certificate (tiller and console endorsed) and 20 hours powerboating logged following certification.

Backman 21.
Certificate:
ISA Keelboat Instructor Certificate (on successful completion).
